Motiv Subzero Forge
Unleash the chilling force of the new Motiv Subzero Forge, a powerful addition to the Forge line that's ready to dominate the lanes. This icy juggernaut combines the legendary Detonator core with the gripping power of the Leverage MXC Solid Reactive coverstock, resulting in devastating pin action and leaving your competition frozen in their tracks. Step into the cold and take command with the Subzero Forge. At the core of the Subzero Forge lies the Detonator, an exceptional blend of low RG and high differential that delivers unmatched control and traction. The low RG ensures quick revs and precise control, while the high differential provides the raw power needed to cut through heavy oil like a glacier through stone. The Detonator core is a proven powerhouse, relentless on high-volume oil patterns. Encasing this mighty core is the Leverage MXC Solid coverstock, supercharged with the Duramax additive. This isn't just another coverstock—it's a rugged, durable surface that holds its texture longer than ever before. You'll experience the icy precision of the Evoke with a newfound intensity that MOTIV fans will recognize as the evolution of the Forge Flare’s fierce performance.

Subzero Forge Review
Subzero Forge Ball Review
The Subzero Forge is the newest ball added to the Forge line. It has the Leverage MXC Solid reactive cover that controls and gives a great amount of traction on medium/heavy oil patterns and has the detonator core. The Subzero Forge creates a very strong smooth motion and is great for controlling patterns especially when the pattern calls for a strong smooth piece. This ball should fit the spot of the strongest solid in most bags of most arsenals. Designed for medium/heavy oil conditions, the Subzero Forge is going to be a piece to add for anyone looking for something stronger than Venom pieces and less than the Jackals. This piece is going to be a great ball to use on the fresh oil patterns and doesn’t shy away from letting you open up the pattern. I see this being in a ton of players bags considering how usable this ball is!

Another Great Forge
The Forge line has been my favorite ever since I found Motiv. I was skeptical on this one to be honest I didn’t enjoy the Forge Flare so another forge with a super early cover wasn’t on my bingo card. With an open mind I threw it and was blown away on how early it rolled but retained enough energy to go threw the pins properly. It’s the only ball this season I have been able to use all three games in league. Huge credit to Motiv’s R&D team the addition of the Duramax additive must be the secret ingredient to this super strong cover.

The newest in the Forge line, the Subzero Forge features the proven Detonator core with the Leverage MXC Solid coverstock. The Subzero Forge for me digs in the mid -lane without sacrificing continuation and hitting power. The Subzero Forge is a little slow around the corner but is very smooth and predictable but when she turns over, she leaves nothing standing. The icy colors on the Subzero Forge coverstock loves oiled lanes. I use my Subzero Forge on fresh lane conditions and longer heavier oil pattern. The Subzero Forge has a spot in my and any tournament bag. The new Subzero Forge is a head turner when it goes down the lane.

Maximum Control Solid
I'm a right-handed bowler who throws 15 lbs. with low to medium revs and low axis tilt. I tend to play the right side around the ten board and average 205 on a typical house shot. My teammates have a variety of different styles, so I got to see how the Subzero Forge reacted for all of us. We're not Motiv staffers or pro shop owners, just a bunch of average Joes on your standard USBC league.
When I purchased this ball, I was hoping it would allow me to open up my angles a bit, but this really didn't happen. The ball looked good all the way down the lane but didn't finish at the pin deck, leaving a lot of soft 7s. When the ball was thrown by my higher rev, higher axis tilt teammate, he got a beautiful, big arcing hook that finished strong and cleared everything. I had to move right and eventually started getting a great reaction. The thing that took me by surprise is that the Subzero Forge is a unicorn: a solid that is very clean through the front part of the lane. We've all had aggressive solids that want to hook off the lane really early, but the Subzero Forge is a patient ball that you don't have to fight to get downlane a little bit. It is a cleaner ball than the Iron Forge that it replaces/succeeds. Like I say, I'm no pro, but I've been bowling for almost 30 years and this is the cleanest solid I can ever remember throwing. That symmetrical core is really doing work! Moving right and playing straight up the lane can sometimes put a speed-dominant bowler in corner-pin purgatory, but I found that this ball held the line really well on a THS and still had the strength and continuation to push through the rack and clear the corners. For power bowlers with higher revs and axis tilt, this is a patient ball that will let you push it downlane a little bit and not worry about it overreacting. And again, terrific finish at the pins.
The common league bowler (like me) might have to make adjustments they weren't expecting to find the sweet spot for this ball, but it strikes me as an extremely versatile ball that will play well with a wide range of bowling styles and abilities. If you've ever wished for an aggressive solid that was just a touch cleaner through the front, the Subzero Forge is not to be missed.
