Roto Grip Idol Helios

The Idol continues with the Roto Grip Idol Helios! This ball uses the same low RG symmetric Ikon core as the previous Idol balls but introduces the XtremeTrax coverstock. The Roto Grip R&D team used a lot of chemistry to create the XtremeTrax Solid Reactive Coverstock that surrounds this ball. The core and cover combination found on the Idol Helios digs into heavy oil while also creating more angle as well as shape down lane.

Question:

I have the Storm Hyroad Nano. Will this bowling ball pair okay with it?

11/17/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, the Helios is designed to be stronger than the HyRoad Nano but they have similar length and reaction by reading earlier in the midlane for a smoother arcing hook. So you could use the Helios in heavier oil and as you get down into more medium oil transition to the Hy-Road Nano.

Question:

Been out of bowling for 20 years but now decided to start back. Look at the Idol Helios but wondering if it would work for a down and in bowler on medium lane conditions. Ball speed is around 16 or 17

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is designed to read the lanes earlier for a smoother arcing hook so I do not think this would be a good match if you were wanting something to play down and in. Also, this was designed for heavier oil so something that works better in medium oil to go longer would be a Roto Grip Rubicon UC2 or even a Roto Grip Hyped Pearl. The UC2 was on the strong side while the Hyped was a little more tame.

Question:

I have the Roto grip Helios what should I use to it I have the storm foam & the storm gray gritty cleaner

3/30/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Really either cleaner could work. The Foam cleaner will help take some of the oil and grit off the ball. The Reacta Skuff I believe the gray gritty cleaner you are referring to and this is great for duller finished balls to help keep them clean and also keep them sanded to keep gripping.

Question:

I am a low speed, low rev bowler, would this ball be good for me?

4/9/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Since your speed and rev rate match and are low you could use this ball but you would mostly have to use this in heavier oil. In medium oil this ball may roll out too early for your speed and this will keep the ball from finishing well by the time it gets to the pins. You could also check out the Roto Grip UC2 if you needed something with more length.

Question:

What is the best cleaner for this ball? I have a number of "burns" and black scuffs that won't come off with plain alcohol, even with a brush.

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Hi! I would suggest the Tac Up Bowling Ball Cleaner which removes lane oil, dirt, scuff and belt marks.
