Hammer Purple Solid Reactive
The Hammer Purple Solid Reactive was just an experiment that turned out remarkable. This mid-performance bowling ball uses the same core as the highly successful and popular Hammer Purple Pearl Urethane but pairs it with a solid reactive coverstock. The high RG and low diff LED core has different numbers due to the density of the reactive cover. This difference results in more flare which creates a more powerful and angular backend motion. This ball is a great match for a bowler wanting something stronger than urethane or for high-rev bowlers looking for a ball to perform well on a variety of lane conditions.

If you love the purple urethane then you will love this ball. Very smooth and predictable.
It's like a urethane but in a solid cover.

Purple Solid Reactive
Smooth symmetric reaction, rolls early and is continuous through the pins. This is a great benchmark ball for any bowler. It complements the Purple Urethane well as a ball that can pick up the mid-lane and hook around the carry-down. Also looks great on its own on medium to longer patterns when you need a symmetric look. Another versatile piece from Hammer.

Pros:
Great compliment to urethane version
Cons:
Mine doesn’t love tons of oil
Best Uses:
When I want to keep my angles closed, or when the lanes start to hook.
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Super SMOOTH with Continuation
What an amazing compliment to the purple urethane. When my urethane is too early I switch to the reactive and it’s smooth sailing and I mean SMOOTH. But unlike some of my other smooth pieces, the reactive still goes through the pins with authority. I can see this ball being a staple for high rev players or those of us that like to get up against the dry.

Purple Solid Reactive
The Hammer Purple Reactive has a very predictable ball motion that certainly gets through the oil very well. I have found this ball to be very useful on challenge/sport shots. It does very well in reading the lane and not over reactive off the friction. I drilled my Purple Reactive pin down and is still responds well off the friction. If drilled pin-up, I feel this could be a good benchmark ball for tournament play.

Purple Solid!!
Just as good as urethane. The reactive solid gets through the fronts pretty easy actually. Very round shape motion. Reacts like urethane just gives you a little more distance with some extra bang in the backend. Great add to the bag for wide range of players. Suited for medium to lighter oil conditions. Even with the amount of surface performs well on dried up shots.

short patterns, house shots

Very Predictable Motion
The Hammer Purple Reactive gives me a predictable ball motion. I get a urethane type shape but a little stronger and with a little more forgiveness on misses that I don’t get from urethane. I use this sometimes on house shots and it really excels on shorter sport patterns where a ton of guys are throwing urethane. I have an above average rev rate but not up there with the 2 handers, so this allows me to play the same area of the lane as I would with urethane but I can stay in this ball longer and it doesn’t react as poorly when they start to transition. Bonus, it still hits like a Purple Hammer since it’s a 2-piece ball. I went with 60 x 4.5 x 40 for my layout for a benchmark type shape.

A smooth ball for I can use!
Finally a smooth ball for us tweeners! I threw the Purple Urethane and it just didn’t work for me. I don’t have enough hand to get the benefits from urethane, but I still hook it some. The Urethane would still hook if I missed left and would hand if I missed right. But with the Purple Reactive I get the same advantage as the bowlers that hook it more when they throw urethane. This is a must in my bag for sport shots and PBA patterns.

Hammer PSR
Definitely a great addition to my bag, exactly what I needed to fill a gap. For me the Purple Solid Reactive (PSR) was clean through the front with a smooth continuous break to the pocket. I am a lower rev player and the PSR gave me plenty of pop on the back. Stronger than I expected, and very predictable. I’ve used it on a THS, and the 32’ wolf pattern. I’m looking forward to using the PSR on more challenge and sport patterns. It looks and works great with a shine too.

Pros:
med oil smooth like urethane but not urethane
Cons:
not ideal for a lot of oil
Best Uses:
playing little straighter or harder conditions
Bottom Line:

stronger yet rolls like the purple urethane
Purple hammer urethane you’ve probably heard about before. This new ball is a reactive coverstock with similar shape. Smoother backend for the med oil. I like to use to play somewhat straighter especially on harder conditions. I also think this ball is different enough from the urethane to have both in your bag. Also reminds me of the retired hammer arson low flare series which I loved. Once the lanes started to get a little drier from the fresh could switch right to these balls. Pick a spot and not move the rest of the day.

A New Purple
This ball is the perfect compliment to the Urethane. With the same weight block but having a solid reactive cover allows medium to lower rev players something to use when urethane is hitting too weak. Used this on a 39’ low volume sport pattern and this ball was incredible.

Hammer Purple Reactive a Purple Ball for All
The Purple Hammer Reactive filled a void in my league and tournament bags. I’m one of those bowlers that struggled to find the right right shape when it comes to throwing urethane. Ive also been the guy when everyone is throwing urethane your trying to find something to match up where everyone else is playing but just can’t! Well now you can with the all new Purple Reactive. This will be the ball you use on those shorter conditions or the burnt up lane conditions when you need to control the hook area more effective! I’m really glad Hammer came out with a Purple Ball that I can throw effectively!

Hammer Purple Reactive
I have had a chance to drill the brand new Hammer Purple REACTIVE. This is a brand new release to complement the Hammer Purple Urethane. The Purple Reactive features the same core in the Purple Urethane wrapped by a Solid Reactive cover finished at 1500 Siaair. However, from the Hammer website, due to the different coverstock, the core numbers are slightly different...a little lower RG and slightly higher differential. I tried the ball today on a 40 foot, 4:1. 30ml challenge pattern at box surface. The pattern was fresh. For layout, I copied the layout on my favorite Purple Urethane Hammer, 40 x 5 x 10.
When we got the information on the new Hammer Purple Reactive, suffice it to say the ball piqued my curiosity. I've had very good success with the Purple Urethane Hammer shown below on a number of patterns and to see the same core wrapped by an aggressive reactive cover...yeah that sounded like a fantastic combination! I will say thus far, the new Purple Reactive Hammer was more impressive than I expected. Granted, there are dry boards to the right, but the pattern still has almost 31 ml of oil. I wasn't sure this new release would match up given the core numbers. Boy was I surprised. The new Purple Reactive handled the volume with ease. The motion is best described as smooth but very continuous. Once the Purple Reactive sees the friction it truly continues. What I think impressed me was once the transition began, I figured, again given the core/cover combination, I would need to stay further right. I figured that if I needed to go with steeper angles, the ball wouldn't get there. Boy was I wrong! After trying to stay further right with hand, sight and speed adjustments with spotty success, I decided to jump 5 left, get around it a little more and throw it to the same spot. The Purple Reactive made the corner without any issues and just kept coming. I was truly surprised that this core/cover combination in the Purple Reactive Hammer could do that so easily. It just kept ending up behind the 8 pin spot in the pit. This ball truly impressed me going through the pins.
The new Purple Reactive Hammer is available. Please see your pro shop for more information.

Hammer Purple Solid Reactive
I threw the Purple Solid Reactive against my Purple Pearl Urethane and I like what I saw. You can see a similar controlled shape. As it was designed, the reactive is much more ball overall. For me on a THS, I had to move about 7 & 3 left with the reactive. Although it is a low flare, control shape it hits pretty hard and goes through the pins well. This should be a good ball for those that have a hard time getting Urethane to tip up and hit.
