The Motiv Freestyle Pearl bowling balls take the proven technology of the Recon weight block and pair it with some new technology called the Turmoil LFP Reactive coverstock. This combination provides a ball that offers length, great backend, and consistent transitions that lessen the over/under frustrations that can occur on light oil conditions. This ball matches up well with bowlers that are looking for an outstanding less aggressive ball at a not so outstanding price.
The freestyle is a new entry level ball in the Motiv Lineup. Compared to the Ascent lineup, the coverstock on the freestyle is much stronger thus creating a higher hook potential on those drier lane conditions as well as more continuation. For me, the Freestyle rolls similar to a Forza with less traction. For those tournament bowlers, the Freestyle will be great on patterns under 38 feet or PBA patterns such as Cheetah or Wolf. For the league bowlers, the freestlye will be great for alleys with older lane surfaces or patterns that are very dry.
If you have been waiting for a lower cost piece for dry lane conditions that provides high performance the Freestyle is for you. What a great addition to the line up as it fits right behind the Tag for me. Very good length with recovery not seen in most lower level balls. Great for house shots for older bowlers with lower ball speeds as well as high rev players looking for something to give them length. As usual the continuation of the Motiv line of balls is unprecedented. The two color options not only look great but seem to provide a slightly different reaction as well. For me the Pink color cover seemed to be a bit steeper on the back end while the blue cover seemed to be a bit more controlled. Both balls performed at a higher level than what I originally expected. Either way this ball is quite a nice addition to the Motiv line of equipment and the price point makes it an attractive addition for all levels of bowler.
