Roto Grip Rubicon UC3

Roto Grip continues to do something different with the Rubicon upper-mid performance balls in their HP3 line of balls. Like the original Rubicon and the Rubicon UC2 the Rubicon UC3 (Ultimate Concept 3) uses the asymmetrical Rondure Core which was designed to provide more ball motion overall without the need for the now-banned balance hole. This performance core is wrapped in Roto Grip's Tour-ethane Pearl Reactive coverstock which was formulated to offer max performance as well as control when facing high friction patterns and surfaces.

Question:

How would this ball work with a bowlers that has slow to medium ball speed that is looking to throw the down and in from the outside line?

11/6/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The coverstock is duller out of the box so this will make the ball start reading earlier on the lane. The coverstock is not going to have as strong of a hook potential so this will help with ball to not over react too early but for you this ball may work best in medium oil or maybe even heavy oil instead of using it in the lighter oil so that it rides more down and in like you are wanting.

Question:

How different is this ball from the pitch black? What should I expect?

1/16/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This will be a little stronger than the Pitch series. The weight block in this ball is asymmetric compared to the Pitch weight block with is symmetric so the UC3 will have a stronger reaction. They do read the lane earlier due to the duller finish and the urethane helps give it a more controllable read without being to aggressive.

Question:

I throw a straighter ball and I have the pitch black, storm nova, and proton physix, would this complement those

3/13/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This would be the most similar to the Pitch Black reaction. The Nova and Proton Physix are high performance bowling balls for heavier oil with a very high hook potential and the Pitch Black and Rubicon UC3 are a urethane ball which are more suited for medium to lighter oil.

Question:

How would this ball work on the nations shot, which is usually heavy oil on the outside of the 10 board? I like to play 7-9 board.

4/2/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is not designed to work in heavier oil very well so it will skid through heavier volumes of oil. This is designed to have a medium to lighter hook in medium to lighter oil conditions and have a smoother controllable arcing hook down the lane.
