Hammer Fierce Phobia

Bring more fear to your competition with the Hammer Fierce Phobia bowling ball. The Fierce Phobia is part of Hammer's upper-mid performance line which includes their legendary Black Widow bowling balls. Answer:

You would probably want to start out with an Entry Level ball if you are learning how to curve the ball.

Question:

I am 60 years old and currently roll Black Widow Assassin 15lb at a speed of 13.50 mph and feel like if I could pick up my speed I would get more pin action. I did roll a 300 game with it last August. I would like to get a new ball possibly 14lb but I don't know what would be good for me. I stand at the first dit left of center and my arrow mark is the second arrow on the right.

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Fierce Phobia comes out of the box with a duller finish which will make it read the lanes earlier than the Assassin did. The Assassin was made to go longer and have a sharper hook. If you do go down in weight you may could still use the Fierce Phobia but with your ball speed you want to be careful getting anything that reads too early. I think you may prefer to go with something that comes out of the box with a little more length like the Hammer Rhodman Pearl or the Hammer Flawless.

Question:

I'm 75 & throwing a black hammer 16#from the 80's & having a hard time keeping from going brooklyn. Will I be able to be more aggressive to the pocket w/the 15# Phobia?

9/7/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

With a lighter weight you might be able to throw this ball a bit harder than you are use to. You might also be able to control it a bit differently as well. As far as being more aggressive, you can talk to a driller about going to a lighter weight, this may change your drilling layout.

Question:

I was used to 14 lb ball before but i want to go back on bowling again. Im looking for one that travels long and hook at the end. I stand at left of center and my mark is always on 5-7 boards (right lane). If you drill with side weight, so i get that controlled hook at the end?

10/1/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball will not be ideal if you want the ball to go longer and hook at the backend. Out-of-the-box the cover is sanded to 2000 grit and this makes the ball read the lanes earlier in the mid lane and it will have a smoother arc hook reaction. It has some continuation on the backend but if you needed a ball with more length and backend hook you may look for a pearl coverstock option like one of these options from Hammer: https://www.bowling.com/shopping/all/bowling-balls/all?brand=28&performance=287&coverstock=52

Question:

I’m continually dropping my 13lb hammer ball at the line should I go lighter in weight?

10/10/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you are dropping the ball it could be from a number of different reasons and one could be because it is too heavy. I could not say for sure but if you feel like the ball is too heavy then you my drop in weight to see if that helps.
