Balls with Same Hook Potential, Lane Conditions and Coverstock as the Motiv Desert Tank Pearl:

Motiv Desert Tank Pearl

Motiv continues their tough Tank line of bowling balls with the Motiv Desert Tank Pearl. This pearl version uses the same Frixion+ Microcell Polymer technology as its predecessor. This technology combines the smooth motion of urethane with the continuation of reactive resin. This ball was designed to handle light volumes of oil with smoothness provided by the low differential Flux core. The cover and core paired with a 2000 Grit LSS finish create a bowling ball that is controllable when the lanes are drier and cause more friction making it a great match for speed-dominant bowlers.

Question:

How is this compared to Fever Pitch?

5/24/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

They are actually very close in performance. The weight block on the Fever Pitch has a little more flare potential but it is not a huge difference in over all performance.

Question:

similar to the covert tank ?

6/9/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

There are two key differences in the Desert Tank and the Covert Tank. The Desert Tank has the Pearl version of the Friction Microcell Polymer coverstock to give it more length. Also, the weight block on the Desert Tank has a lower RG Diff and it will not have as much flare as the Covert Tank. So in all the Desert Tank goes longer and has a little less hook than the Covert Tank so if your Covert was too strong for what you needed then you could try the Desert Tank.

Question:

Can you polish this ball

2/14/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, you could add polish to this to give it more length but because this ball is already designed to have a low hook potential, adding polish will make this hook even less.

Question:

How does the Desert Tank compare to the 900 Global Shadow Ops and Brunswick Twist?

3/24/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Desert Tank would actually have similar overall hook potential to the Twist but the Desert Tank reads the lanes earlier and smoother than the Twist which hook more angular on the backend. The Shadow Ops was going to be stronger than both though. It has a stronger weight block to help it have a stronger reaction than the Desert Tank. So if you need something for really light oil that lets you play a smoother arcing hook then the Desert Tank will be your best option.
